With four dogs, I was struggling to get any sleep. I purchased this extension for my king-size bed. To make it softer for my dogs, I bought flat dog bed cushions and placed them on top. They seem to enjoy laying there more now. It works well, but I think it’s too firm without the pillow cushion on top.

This dog bed extender is a bit pricey, but it’s definitely worth it. We have three dogs (17 pounds, 32 pounds, and a puppy that will likely be around 17 pounds full-grown) and three cats. Sharing the king-size bed became crowded when they all decided to sleep with us. It’s been a challenge to change the dogs’ behaviors since they’re accustomed to snuggling with us, but we believe that will change over time. It’s wonderful to have space to spread out and be near each other during the night. The only flaw is that there’s no removable cover. For a dog bed, I expected it to have a removable and washable cover. Therefore, we purchased a twin-size bed sheet and put a blanket over it for easy protection and washing. This setup also helps keep the dogs down there since they like to lay on blankets. Additionally, we got a twin sized mattress topper to make it softer for the dogs to enjoy.

The bed extender came pre-assembled, which was convenient. It’s sturdy and comfortable for dogs, and lightweight as well. The only issue I encountered was that on my hard floor, it would easily slide away from the bed when the dogs jumped on it. However, I solved this problem by securing the legs of the extender to the legs of the bed, and since then, there have been no issues.

We love it! With two 80 lb. dogs in our California King bed, there wasn’t much room left for us. The 14-inch bed extender made a huge difference. On the first night, the dog that usually sleeps on my feet was able to spread out on it without upsetting the other dog or disrupting our sleep. We have a sleep number bed, and the extender matches perfectly with the end (we don’t have a footboard). It was definitely a great purchase.
